Sporty Santas Ditch Their Sleighs For Gloucester’s Second Santa Fun Run

The Gloucester Santa Fun Run on Saturday 8th December will kick off the festive season as hundreds of ‘Dashers’ suit-up for the second ever Santa Fun Run in Gloucester Park. Online registration is now open for the popular fund-raising event which was hugely successful at last year’s inaugural event.

Jolly joggers will be ‘Blitzen’ through Gloucester Park and are invited to dress up in a full Santa costume, Santa hat or an elf outfit. There will be a 5K route and a 1K route for those who would like to take it slightly easier. Registration cost is free for Blue Badge holders/wheelchairs, £4 for under 16s, £8 for adults and £20 for teams of 4 (excluding online booking fees). The race begins at 10:15 with registration in the park taking place at 09.30. Price includes your very own Santa Fun Run medal.

The Santa Fun Run is organised by the Rotary Club of Gloucester with support and sponsorship from Gloucester BID, Marketing Gloucester and Cass-Stephens Insurances Ltd. All money raised will go towards the cost of the event and the money left over will be donated to local charities. Gloucester BID have generously provided funding for the event meaning that even more of the money raised can go towards helping those in need.

Matt Cass, Director of Cass-Stephens and member of The Rotary Club of Gloucester said “The Rotary Club of Gloucester wish to build on the success of last year’s very first Gloucester Santa Fun Run by having an even bigger and better one this year. There will be prizes for Best Dressed Adult and Junior and there will be Santa Suits and Santa Hats available to buy on the day if you don’t have your own, so get your best Christmas themed fancy dress on and head on down to Gloucester Park on Saturday 8th December 2018 and take part.”

Paul James, Leader of Gloucester City Council and Chairman of Marketing Gloucester said “It’s great to see such an exciting event being held in Gloucester Park, the spectacle of hundreds of Santas running through Gloucester Park is sure to add to the festive atmosphere within the city. The event is for a great cause and is sure to be lots of fun.”

You can register online here: Even if you’re not taking part, be sure to come down to enjoy the spectacle and give the finishers a round of ‘Santapplause’.
